Things to do in Essex Over Christmas - Puttshack

Essex is a truly special place to spend your Christmas. This vibrant county has so much to do, see and experience - your biggest challenge is likely to be how to draw up a shortlist of festive options! Well, we are here to help you with just that, consider it our gift to ensure you have the magical festive break you deserve.

1. Go shopping at Lakeside

There’s nowhere more perfect to go shopping for all your Christmas goodies than Thurrock’s own Lakeside shopping centre. The selection here really is excellent, with over 150 stores covering everything from clothes to videogames and much more in between.

However, what makes Lakeside really fantastic is all the extras, like the cinema and huge range of restaurants. You can watch a film, spend the day shopping and go for a meal all in the same afternoon in the same place for a perfect winter’s day out. And that’s without even mentioning the many other entertainment facilities...

2. Enjoy some healthy competition with Puttshack at Lakeside

What we offer at Puttshack is unique enough to warrant its own space on our list of things to do in Essex at Christmas. The aim here is to provide an entertainment experience like no other! Whether it's festive fun for the family, a group of friends, date night or Christmas parties, we have a range of festive packages to suit everyone.

At Puttshack, we bring together an idea that everyone knows, understands and can get involved in, and then we bring that mini-golf magic into the 21st century with a futuristic take on a beloved classic. We use high tech, cutting-edge technology to create the version of mini golf of your dreams!

3. Visit the Winter Wonderland at the Museum of Power

Away from Lakeside, Essex has plenty more to offer its residents and visitors looking for a boost of festive cheer. If you’re in need of a seasonal pick me up, salivating at the prospect of the smells of cinnamon, pine and mulled wine, there’s no better shot in the arm than the Winter Wonderland at the Museum of Power to cure those chestnut roasting blues. Here you can check out Christmas stalls, enjoy a spot of ice skating and even see Santa!

4. Transport yourself at the traditional German Christmas market

If somehow the Winter Wonderland doesn’t do the trick or if you’re worried yule lose it if you just don’t get an extra strong dose of Christmas cheer, then there’s only one thing for it. That’s the traditional German Market at Meadow Croft Garden Centre. We don’t know why but Germany just seems to do Christmas right. There’s something about that authentic Bratwurst taste alongside some sensational German beer that just shouts FESTIVE!

5. See Santa on the Epping Ongar Railway

Get on a selection of trains on the 24th December from North Weald, and Santa will be there handing out presents, mince pies and mulled wine. We have nothing more to say about it, it's just amazing!

Look no further, book your visit to Puttshack this Christmas!
