SMALL FOOT PRINT, LONGER DWELL TIME, FUN FOR THE WHOLE SQUAD!
Introducing Puttcade
Puttcade is Puttshack’s tech-infused mini golf bay that drops onto your existing floor in about four hours. Median venue does $104,493 in annual net sales and pays the machine back in 8.9 months.
- Running in 10 Puttshack venues in the US and UK
- One circuit, one ethernet cable
- One day install and configuration
The Floor Space Math
You already pay rent on the square footage. The question is what it returns.
Every operator knows the number that actually matters, and it isn’t footfall or dwell or NPS. It’s sales per square foot. It’s the number that decides which attraction stays and which one gets pulled at the end of the lease. So run it on the floor you have right now. The claw machines nobody plays. The photo booth. The dead perimeter behind the sports lounge. The corner that’s been “we’ll figure it out” since you opened.
- 97.3 square feet of floor you are already paying for
- Golf alone: $810 – $924 per square foot, per year
- With F&B attached: $1,074 – $1,432 per square foot, per year
The machine pays for itself in 6 to 13 months, then keeps going
That is not a projection we built in a spreadsheet. It is what these units actually did on our own floor, across 20-plus operating months. We’ll come back to that — it’s the part most operators don’t believe until they see where the number comes from.
WHAT IT ACTUALLY IS
We built it because we needed it.
Puttshack runs tech-infused mini golf venues across the UK and the US. Every ball is tracked, every score is automatic, and the games change as you play, and there are eight patents on file across the hardware, software, mechanical and electrical design. The Challenge Hole was our answer to a problem in our own venues: how do you give a group the full competitive experience without giving them a whole nine-hole course? Puttcade is that same technology, pulled out of the venue and packaged into a single unit you can drop into your floor plan.
You are not being sold a prototype. You are being offered what we already run for ourselves.
One box, four hour install
12’8″ × 7’8″. One dedicated 20A 120V circuit. One hardline ethernet cable. Modular bolt-together assembly by certified technicians — no structural work, and you don’t close the venue for it.
Zero Staff Needed
Turns, scoring and leaderboards are automated. A tap-to-pay reader can mount directly to the machine for self-serve activation. Nobody needs to stand here. Add your group names and go.
The Games Only Get Better
The game library isn’t fixed. New games push to the machine over the wire as part of your annual subscription. The unit you buy this week is the worst version of it you will ever own.
typical venue results
These aren't projections. This is what the machines did on our own floor.
Empirical performance data from Puttcade units running in mature Puttshack venues — Dallas-Addison is the core anchor — across 20-plus operating months. Low is the 25th percentile of observed performance, Mid is the median, High is the 75th.
| Low (25th) | Median | High (75th) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annual net sales | $71,501 | $104,493 | $139,371 |
| Annual gross profit | $64,748 | $94,623 | $126,207 |
| Daily net sales | $199 | $290 | $387 |
| Gross-profit payback | 12.97 mo | 8.88 mo | 6.66 mo |
| Daily bookings needed | 1.8 | 2.2 | 2.6 |
No kitchen? It still works. Golf-only runs $58,900 to $89,900 a year at near-100% gross margin, with full capital payback in 12 to 15 months. F&B accelerates the payback — it doesn’t enable it.
PuttQuest
Arcade style games
The part nobody expects
A Puttshack social round is 30 to 90 minutes. Puttquest runs 60 to 90.
Puttquest is the newest game in the library, and it is a different animal: a D&D-style team quest that runs an hour to ninety minutes inside a single Puttcade. A squad works through an illustrated map stage by stage. Every stage throws a monster or an obstacle at them, and they putt at targets on the screen to land damage. Miss and you take the hit. Between stages you choose — heal up, or upgrade your weapons. It all builds to a final boss.
A group parked in one place for ninety minutes is a group ordering food and drinks for ninety minutes. Puttquest is a dwell-time and F&B play dressed up as a game — and it reaches a hybrid golf/fantasy-esports player who was never going to walk into a mini golf venue on their own. It widens the market rather than reselling you the same customer.
Mode 01 — Puttshack Social (Arcade)
Fast rotation, high turnover
Up to 4 players on fast rotation. Five to 15 minutes a round. 16–24+ players per hour at peak. Slots into arcade banks and sports-lounge perimeters. This allows a variety of tried and true arcade mode designed games.
Long dwell, high spend per head
6–8 players in booked event groups. 30–60 minutes, or 60–90 on Puttquest. 8–12 players per hour with full F&B dwell. Lower throughput, far higher spend per head.
Tap to play arcade
Puttcade can provide a tap to play mode that can be one minute per player per game at a throughput 30+ games per hour, to provide a quick play mode for more customers to try quickly.

Qualifying
Worth being straight about.
This is for you if
- You run an FEC, bowling centre, bar, eatertainment venue, resort, hotel or cruise ship
- You have roughly 97 sq ft of flat finished floor with about two feet of player clearance and 8’2½” of height
- You measure attractions on revenue per square foot and expect capital back inside a fiscal year
- You’d rather buy proven equipment than commission something bespoke
This probably isn’t for you if
- You’re looking for a full mini golf course — that’s our nine-hole course product, priced against your actual venue, and it’s a different conversation
- You need the unit to run without a hardline ethernet connection. It needs the cable, not Wi-Fi
- You want a guaranteed number before anyone has looked at your floor plan and your ticket price. We’d rather model your venue than quote you someone else’s
How fast do I get my money back?
Roughly 12 to 15 months dependent on golf only or if you have F&B attached. That’s on the assumption of 2 to 3 reservations per day.
How reliable are these projections?
They aren’t projections. They’re observed performance from Puttcade units running in mature Puttshack venues, Dallas-Addison as the core anchor, across 20-plus operating months. Low, Mid and High are the 25th percentile, median and 75th percentile of what actually happened.
What infrastructure do I need in place?
A 12’8″ × 7’8″ flat finished floor, one dedicated 20A 120V circuit (or the European equivalent by wattage and amperage, confirmed per site), and one hardline RJ45 ethernet connection. Modular installation takes about four hours with minimal disruption.
Does this work without food and beverage?
Yes. Standalone golf generates $58,900 to $89,900 annually at near-100% gross margin with zero kitchen or bar overhead, and pays back in 9.3 to 14.3 months. F&B accelerates the return; it isn’t a prerequisite.
How much does F&B actually change the numbers?
F&B represents 39.4% of total net sales in our venues and adds $21,400 to $41,800 in annual gross profit per unit. It pulls capital payback forward by two to four months and lifts annual gross profit 20% to 40% over golf-only operation.
What are the ongoing costs?
One annual support and maintenance subscription, which covers proactive remote diagnostics, 24/7 ticket support, continuous software updates, cloud tournament connectivity, new games added to the library, and an active spare-parts replacement package. Year one is included with the unit.
How many staff does it need?
None dedicated. Turns and scoring are automated, and a tap-to-pay card reader mounts to the machine for self-serve activation.
Can you brand it for us?
Yes — exterior vinyl wrap, your logo illuminated, arch treatments, and a custom digital environment. We’re quoting the incremental cost case by case right now rather than publishing a blanket number. Tell us what you’d want and we’ll come back with a real figure.
What if it breaks?
The annual support subscription covers proactive remote diagnostics, 24/7 ticket support, software updates and an active spare-parts replacement kit, with continuous remote monitoring on the unit. We’ll put our technical lead on response times directly.
What if I want more than one?
Unit economics scale linearly — no diminishing return per machine. Two units run $189,246 in annual gross profit on the median model; four run $378,492, with payback under nine months per unit. For a multi-site rollout, say so on the form and we’ll structure it properly rather than quote you off the shelf.
What does the nine-hole course cost?
It’s a custom installation, so it’s priced against your actual venue. Send your square footage, ceiling height and constraints and we’ll come back with a real quote rather than a number that turns out to be wrong for your space.
